Experience

Ollie is a Soil Technician with AGS Ground Solutions Ltd – Strategic Partner

Since starting with AGS in 2014, Ollie have developed a number of skills relating to in-situ and ex-situ testing of soils, and is adept at site walkover surveys.

Ollie is capable of carrying out Plate Bearing Tests (PBTs), Dynamic Cone Penetrometer Soundings (DCPs), MEXE Probe Soundings, Percolations Tests (2-dimensional and 3-dimensional) and a range of other in-situ soil testing techniques.

With a keen eye for detail Ollie is able to carry out site walkover surveys and initial site visits.

Specific Projects, which Ollie has Been Involved With

  • HMNB Portsmouth
    Significant sized site investigation, excavating hand dug trial pits, carrying out soil sampling and testing and making good a number of borehole positions.
  • Four Burrows Wind Farm, Truro
    Technician carrying out Plate Bearing Tests (unsupervised) for ongoing maintenance at a large wind farm in the South West.
  • Falmouth Docks, Falmouth
    Technician carrying out Plate Bearing Tests (unsupervised) at a commercial dockyard facility, to enable the safe operation of mobile cranes.
  • Bodmin and Wenford Railway, Bodmin
    Performing infiltration rate tests and a site walkover survey at a private railway site and major tourist attraction in Cornwall, as part of a new car park.
  • Former Dairy Crest, Totnes
    Carrying out crane outrigger stability testing at the site of a new hydropower station adjacent to the River Dart in Totnes.
  • Bacon Factory, Pool
    Technician for a 6—month 3—phase site investigation at a factory redevelopment. Works were phased to allow production to continue throughout.
  • Former Kirton Motor Spares, Crediton
    Technician for an 18 month site investigation at a former scrap yard. Work involved water, air and soil quality monitoring.
  • Hartnoll Farm, Tiverton
    Performance of in-situ 2-dimensional percolation tests and recovery of undisturbed soil samples for lab testing to establish the permeability of a slurry pit.
  • Bury Lane Farm, Huntingdon
    Technician assisting with a significant size broad scope investigation at the site of a proposed anaerobic digester on a former WWII airfield.
